A Question for You
I'm starting to think about Christmas presents... I think we'd like to give Caleb a magazine subscription - preferrably something about nature/animals. And preferrably something that's not too expensive to send to Canada. Any ideas??
We used to get magazines from somewhere that were called Chickadee (for littler kids) and Owl (for bigger kids). They were about animals, nature and science. We also got Ranger Rick from somewhere...
Anyway, that was all back in the 80s, so who knows if they even still make them.
We get one called Nature Friend and our children really enjoy it. I feel it is a homeschooling extra. But I'm not sure you could call it cheap going into Canada. In US it is $25 a year. You can check it out at www.naturefriendmagazine.com . Our children of all ages enjoy it including Dad & Mom.
I really want to get National Geographic Kids. If you get him a subscription online, I can give you a code to enter (for most magazines) and our school will get a percentage of it. If it's too much bother, don't worry about it.
I just ordered National Geographic Kids last night. Sorry, Robyn, I would've tried your code. Thanks Rhonda and Eunice for the idea. This one ended up being cheaper and Keith was more interested in it. Hope we like it!
Yes, Ranger Rick is still around, Rhonda. The magazine is put out by the National Wildlife Federation. They also have a magazine for toddlers called "Animal Baby" and one for 3-7 yr. olds called "Your Big Backyard." Their website is www.nwf.org. We've tried all of them and have enjoyed/are enjoying them. (They are not a Christian magazine. One issue had some evolution references in it, so that gave us an opportunity to have a little disscussion about that.) We've also enjoyed reading Nature Friend but are not subscribers. Oops, Looks like I'm too late!
