I'm Seeing Red

I did it! I painted my basement rec-room red and I like it! When we were at family camp-out, Darla told me how she re-decorated their bedroom while Sheldon was gone on his big bike-ride – without telling him. That inspired me since I’ve been wanting to re-paint the basement ever since we painted it that yucky algae color two years ago. I knew Keith was planning a little canoe trip this month, so the gears began to grind away. I made all the plans without Keith knowing it. I’m very indebted to the help of Rita, Mom and Dad Graber, Melva, and Kendra. The room is transformed. It’s not quite finished yet. I just put the last coat of paint on the trim, so Keith will have to put that up. And I still need to paint the door. Other than that, there just a lot of stuff to move back into the room. And my intention is that not everything that was in that room will go back into it. How does “stuff” accumulate so quickly?? Now, please don’t hassle me for pictures of what we did. Kendra brought her camera over and the pics are now on my computer, but I need to figure out how to “smallify” them and post them. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. And I can’t figure out how to post pictures in a day! I did start looking at cameras on-line today. :-) I told Kendra I should paint the basement, and buy a camera while Keith is gone.

Logan got to go along with Daddy on the canoe trip, and I thought I’d do some things to make it more special for Caleb. So last night I told him he could stay up as long as he wanted. I painted (and talked on the phone with Rachel) until about 11:00. Caleb watched a movie for a lot of that time. Then I headed for bed and Caleb wanted me to play with Legos with him. I informed him that he could stay up, but I had no intention of doing the same! I was in bed by 11:30 and he was in his room playing with Legos. Some time around 12:00 he came in my room and wondered if I would lay down with him or something. I groggily told him to crawl in with me, and that’s how our night ended. I think he was pretty proud of himself for staying up that late!

I can't believe it's been two years already since you painted the "pool" room! Man, time is going fast.

Yeah, well, let's define "done". Everything is painted except for the door but the room is still pretty empty. There's lots of organizing, sorting, and putting away to do yet.

is it the same red as your living room? can't wait to see it, but for what it's worth, i never thought the algae was that bad. :)

No, not quite the same. This has a definite brown tone to it. Very warm red.

Concerning your riddle, Jenni, how's this: Please be patient, God's not finished with me yet.
Does that date me??
Concerning wasting time...I'm with you there. Actually, learning to waste time was one of my new year's resolutions. Today some of our children are restless and wondering what to do. Maybe we'll make milkshakes, read a good book, and play a game.
